Ethereal is a free network protocol analyzer for Unix and Windows. It allows you to examine data from a live network or from a capture file on disk. You can interactively browse the capture data, viewing summary and detail information for each packet. Ethereal has several powerful features, including a rich display filter language and the ability to view the reconstructed stream of a TCP session. Analyzer is a full configurable network analyzer program for Win32 environment. Analyzer is able to capture packets on all platforms (and link-layer technologies) supported by WinPcap, except for Windows 95. WinDump is the porting to the Windows platform of tcpdump, the most used network sniffer/analyzer for UNIX. WinDump is fully compatible with tcpdump and can be used to watch and diagnose network traffic according to various complex rules. It can run under Windows 95/98/ME, and under Windows NT/2000/XP. WinPcap is an architecture for packet capture and network analysis for the Win32 platforms. It includes a kernel-level packet filter, a low-level dynamic link library (packet.dll), and a high-level and system-independent library (wpcap.dll). The packet filter is a device driver that adds to Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP the ability to capture and send raw data from a network card, with the possibility to filter and store in a buffer the captured packets.
